The Tennessee Department of Health recently suspended all new resident admissions to a nursing home in Limestone, TN after complaints citing pharmaceutical services, nursing services, and medical records raised concerns.

This is the second admission suspension enacted by the Tennessee Department of Health in the past few months – a Nashville-area home faced the same penalties after similar concerns were brought up. Finding the right nursing home for your elderly loved one is a major life decision, and Patient Care Advocate for the Tennessee Department of Health Sally Pitt spoke with the Public News Service about ways to be confident that you’re making the right decision.

“As you're touring the facility, you're looking for the temperature; is it comfortable for the residents? Any odors, and are those odors temporary?” she said. “Can you easily find any posted instructions throughout the facilities? For example, resident rights: Are they posted throughout the facility?”
