The Federal Aviation Administration is continuing its investigation of the Southwest plane that skid off the taxiway at Nashville International Airport on Tuesday.
Authorities still aren’t sure what caused a Southwest plane to skid off the taxiway at Nashville International Airport two days ago, injuring nine passengers. The plane was carrying 133 passengers and five crewmembers from Houston Hobby Airport.
Although the FAA is investigating the incident, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will take the lead if it is determined that the plane sustained substantial damage.
According to authorities, most of the injured passengers sustained minor bruises, but one passenger complained of chest pain after the incident.
Tennessee has had its fair share of aviation incidents over the past five years. Just a few months ago in August, a flight leaving Nashville International Airport for Cincinnati caught fire – there were no injuries. Last December, a Cessna 162 crashed at John C. Tune airport – also no injuries.
There have also been some fatal airplane accidents in Nashville within the past few years. In February 2014, a Gulfstream 690C crashed just outside of John C. Tune airport, killing four people on board. A crash on October 29, 2013 resulted in one death.
