19 pedestrians have been killed in car accidents in Nashville, TN this year, a new city record, with another month and a half left in the year.
The Tennessee Highway Safety Office believes that the dangerous increase in fatal pedestrian crashes is heavily influenced by the city’s rapid growth.
The majority of these accidents occurred on Bell Road, Murfreesboro Pike, Nolensville Pike, and Gallatin Pike.
Walk/Bike Nashville, an organization founded in 1998 to help promote a safer, more walkable, bikeable, and livable city, announced that they were launching a new campaign to help prevent these types of deaths. This campaign comes at an especially important time – historically, November and December are the deadliest month for pedestrians in Nashville.
